‘EVERYTHING CAN HAPPEN’
Arsenal legend Emmanuel Petit believes Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe could “easily” seal a shock transfer to the newly mega-rich Newcastle.
The French hero believes the 22-year-old is “frustrated and tired” of not getting the recognition his team-mates Lionel Messi and Neymar are getting in his homeland.
Speaking exclusively to Gambling.com on Mbappe’s uncertain Paris future, Petit said: “Anything can happen. We see what happened with Newcastle United – there have been rumors and you never know what’s going to happen at the end of the day, things can turn out very easily and very quickly.
“There is a great connection with Real Madrid and I know in his mind, when he was a child, he dreamed of playing for clubs like this, because of the stars they have there and the club history.
“I think he has been frustrated and tired with the situation at PSG over the past year. We saw some issues on the pitch between Paris Saint-Germain and the national team, which reflected his game and his mood.
“Maybe he’s interested in Real Madrid because he’s sick of what’s going on here in France.
“I think sometimes he feels like he doesn’t have the same recognition as players like [Lionel] Messi or Neymar.
“Messi, before coming here, he was the king of Barcelona. But for me, the king of Paris Saint-Germain is Mbappé, not Messi or Neymar. With all due respect for Messi, Mbappe is still number one.
