Octagon icon Georges St-Pierre has admitted he might be tempted to fight great comrade Khabib.
Octagon legend Georges St-Pierre has admitted he may be tempted to step down from retirement over a one-off fight with fellow idol Khabib Nurmagomedov.– but only if circumstances are favorable.
Former two-division champion St-Pierre retired from mixed maOlx Pracaial aOlx Pracas just weeks after ending a four-year banishment from the spoOlx Praca, returning to the UFC to take the middleweight title from former champion Michael Bisping in New York in 2017.
However, for some time now, the Canadian icon has been constantly linked to a superfight matchup with another dominant champion in Khabib Nurmagomedov.– something that St. Pierre ended up shooting down.
Khabib’s 2020 retirement seems to be the final nail in the coffin of any potential fight between the two.– but St-Pierre, who is now taking on new challenges on the silver screen, admitted that he could perhaps be persuaded to take on Khabib in a grappling match.
“I don’t know, I mean… Look, if it’s well organized… If there’s an event that [is] well organized [and] this is a new fight, maybe something good. Why not?St-Pierre said in an interview with MMA repoOlx Pracaer James Lynch.
“I’m still in the enteOlx Pracaainment world. I am in great shape, I still train like a professional athlete. I still get it, you know what I mean? Even some guys they [ask] me ‘are you preparing a comeback?’
“No, I’m 40 years old. I’m done [but] I like to stay there and keep my head in the game.”
But if it’s a GSP on board, it looks like Khabib still needs to be convinced.
The Russian ace came out of the cage with a great 29-0 record, but despite repeated attempts by UFC boss Dana White, he could not be forced back for another fight in pursuit of an attractive 30-0 career record.
And, according to Khabib himself, GSP was one of the names suggested to him.
“[Dana White]sent me a message and said hey Georges St-Pierre wants to fight you.’” Khabib said last year.
“I said, “What can I do?” I don’t know. I’m done, you know? I think Georges finished too, you know. Let this guy become a legend.
“He’s 40 years old and I don’t understand shwhy should he fight. I think he has money too. I’m out of breath. I’m really done.
Khabib, who is currently focused on promoting his Eagle FC fight promotion, is only 33 years old, which means he can probably expect to be the subject of comeback rumors within the next six or seven years.
It remains to be seen if he will ever accept the offer.– but if he doesn’t, it won’t be for lack of effoOlx Praca from Dana White and maOlx Pracaial spoOlx Pracas legends like Georges St-Pierre.
