Today was the first day of RackCon, Rackroom’s annual conference. The company revealed its latest features and future plans for Rackroom users. It continues the competition until the 25th with several events, panels and special rooms.

Rackroom CCO and co-founder Cameron Brown announced Rackroom Studios in his opening remarks. This new Unity-based feature will offer new tools to creators.

The company also announced other things, such as Rackroom’s standalone PC client. It is also working on a new Rake Room original, a 4v1 monster escape scenario pitting four people against a player-controlled monster. It’s also launching a virtual haunted house to celebrate Halloween, apparently the first of its kind to be recognized by the Haunt Society.

Rec Room Studio

The company’s biggest announcement, Rack Room Studio, offers room creators new creative tools and the Unity editor. According to Rackroom, creators will have access to features like asset import, Unity Terrain Editor, Unity Pro Builder, custom sound and more.

In an interview with GamesBeat, Brown said, “Adding Rackroom Studio to the mix does several things. It gives our creators access to the full set of professional game development tools – not just Unity itself. editor, but also the constellation of apps it can import from – Blender, Photoshop, etc. We think it gives our creators a way to gain experience. An industry standard tool. We know that many of our creations Aspire to a career in car development, so spending time with these tools is an investment in that goal for them. And of course, it provides an immediate level in fidelity and complexity of rack rooms, allowing all our players benefit.”

The future of the rec room

Rec Room also revealed some of the milestones it has reached in its lifetime: for example, it has accumulated more than 82 million monthly active users in six years. It also paid creators $1 million in the first half of 2022.

Asked about the immediate future of Rec Room, Brown said, “It’s really important to us that creators feel rewarded for their efforts, which we think comes in three flavors. First, in Rec Room. It’s fun to create! We’ll continue to invest in creation tools and systems, trying to make them as enjoyable as possible. Second, any creator wants an audience for their creations – you want People want to see your work, and you want to get feedback. That’s why we’re taking a look at our different recommendation and discovery systems to make sure all of our creators have a focused audience. We also owe it to ourselves to improve our tools that allow creators to connect with their subscribers.
