Police charge man with 2nd degree murder in Truro, Nova Scotia with homicide – Halifax

The Truro Police Department made an arrest in the homicide of Troy Douglas Whidden, 53, who was found unconscious in a building on Sunday night.

In a statement, police said they arrested Nathan Joseph Knockwood, 31, without incident around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday. He was held overnight and was charged with second degree murder on Wednesday.

“The Truro Police Department cannot comment on the motive or details surrounding the case as this matter is now in court,” the statement said. “However, we do not believe this crime was a random act and we are not looking for any other suspects in this matter.”

Truro Police Chief Dave MacNeil is scheduled to speak to media outside Truro Police Station later this afternoon.
