An Oakland man was shot twice during an attempted carjacking at a gas station on Tuesday afternoon, officials said.
According to the sergeant, just before 2 p.m., Auckland police were called to the Chevron parking lot on the 4200 block of Futile Boulevard near High Street. Wilbert Fleming, one of the officers who responded to the scene.
Fleming said that at some point during the carjacking attempt, the victim was shot twice in the legs, but the exact circumstances were not clear.
Police did not immediately release details of the vehicle or any possible suspects, although Fleming said he believed several people were involved. The driver fled the scene after the shooting, but did not take the vehicle.
Fleming said the man was taken to hospital and was in stable condition Tuesday afternoon.
