Dear Harriet: Years ago, I worked as a teacher in a small private school. The school was so small that some of the supervisors were teachers themselves.

I was suddenly fired one day by a supervisor who didn’t see my worth. It was obviously crushing at the time, but I have since found a new school where I feel valued and appreciated by the staff.

To my surprise, the same supervisor who let me go from my previous job had recently been hired by my current school to work at the same level.

Every time I see him, I think of the cruel way he fired me. How can I get over the resentment I still have towards this person?

Dear Resentments: Remember your worth now. Do your work. Be polite to him, but don’t go out of your way to be friendly.
