Manchester United news: Mauricio Pochettino’s approach rejected by Paris Saint-Germain

Paris Saint-Germain pushed back a first approach to Manchester United for Mauricio Pochettino.

The Argentine is United’s preferred choice to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who was sacked on Sunday after a 4-1 loss to Watford less than 24 hours earlier.

Although United have declared their intention to appoint an interim manager for the remainder of the season, they had hoped Pochettino was ready to move to Old Trafford midway through the campaign.

The Red Devils therefore surveyed Paris Saint-Germain on the availability of Pochettino but the Ligue 1 giants informed the intermediaries that they had no intention of letting the Argentine go.

Pochettino is reportedly excited to move to United, but unless he makes a fuss for a move, PSG won’t let him go just yet.

The French club have an interest in Zinedine Zidane, with the club’s hierarchy being aware that the Real Madrid legend could persuade Kylian Mbappe to stay at the club.

But Zidane intends to see his sabbatical and would prefer to join a club at the end of the season.
