A first-half goal from Adam Sally ended Ards’ losing streak, as Matthew Tipton’s men beat Dandella 1-0 at Clandeboye Park.

Ards leveled Dandella in the 13th minute when Eamonn Scannell cut through the center of the East Belfast club’s defense before the ball fell into the path of Sally. Portadown Looney struck the ball into the bottom corner from 20 yards.

Scannell almost had a goal of his own on 21 minutes, but Duns keeper Neil Shields blocked his powerful shot with his legs.

At the other end, Tony Keane skimmed the woodwork on two separate occasions with two 20-yard free kicks. In the second half, Moore headed home a 30-yard effort from the set-piece specialist and Ards narrowly won.

Elsewhere, league leaders Loughgall beat new boys Newington 2-1. Nidas Maculiots and Ben Murdoch scored for the villagers either side of Robbie McWornick’s equaliser. Visiting captain Richard Gowdy was sent off with the score 1-1.

Warrenpoint Town beat Annagh United 1-0 when Ray O’Sullivan struck on the hour, while BJ Banda scored for Ballinmallard United in a 1-0 win over Harland and Wolfwalders.

The Institute beat Ballyclare Comrades 2-0 at Brandyvale with Sean Lippard and Cathyre Friel on target.
