Jamie Carragher believes Paris Saint-Germain won’t win the Champions League as they “carry three passengers” in Lionel messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappé.

PSG are now forced to settle for second place in Group A after being beaten 2-1 by Manchester city at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday evening.

Mbappe opened the scoring for PSG but Raheem Sterling equalized City before Gabriel Jesus scored the winner with 14 minutes left.

Pep guardiolaThe team delivered a dominant display against PSG with Messi and Neymar both struggling to have a lot of impact.

And Carragher believes that the top three in the top three of PSG are holding back the team because of their low work rate.

“I just don’t think teams can carry anyone now,” Carragher told Paramount Plus.

“Let’s say the four teams that I think one of them will win the Champions League – Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea Where Bayern Munich – they do not carry a single passenger in the team.

‘They [PSG] wear three, they have absolutely no chance of winning the Champions League, Paris Saint-Germain, absolutely no chance.

“I’m frustrated watching it because with Mbappe more than anyone. I can almost understand Messi to some extent he is 34 he has to run away for certain times I still don’t think they can wear him let’s not forget that Barcelona hasn’t won a Champions League for a long time.

“But Mbappe is 22, he should come back to the sprint and help his teammates against a better Man City side. This thing of walking on the field is not for me.

‘When I see [Mohamed] Salah and [Sadio] Mane for Liverpool sprinting everywhere I see [Kevin] De Bruyne, I see Mahrez, Raheem Sterling the same, Thomas Muller for Bayern Munich, [Robert] Lewandowski.

“I just can’t accept, I don’t care how good they are, that they don’t work for the team. The days of carrying passengers are long gone.

“And that’s why the three best teams in Europe right now – four teams like Chelsea are Champions League winners – the other teams won’t win it.

‘I said this about [Cristiano] Ronaldo too, but at least Ronaldo scores goals. Ronaldo is a passenger without a ball, his goals make up for him at the moment.

“In the Champions League matches tonight their goals certainly didn’t make up for it. Unless you score, you’re carrying passengers, and at this level of football you won’t stand a chance, Manchester United will not win the Champions League.
