Kidnapped woman rescued after pleading for help commissioned by Grubhub

A 24-year-old woman was rescued from an alleged hostage situation after she was able to add a note to a Grubhub food delivery order asking restaurant workers to call the police.

Cafe owner Alice Bermejo told CBS News that the restaurant staff were not sure if it was a jokebut her husband urged them to call the police anyway.

CNN reports that the criminal complaint says the woman agreed to meet a man she met on a dating app. She was allegedly attacked and raped a man.

The New York Police Department has confirmed that Royal is also charged with attempted rape, sexual assault and assault in a case four days earlier involving a 26-year-old woman. It is not clear how the police linked the two cases.

Bermejo told CNN that officers contacted her and confirmed that the woman the plea for help was sincere and that she is safe.
