The BBC said it would also examine whether concerns about Westwood’s behavior played a role in his departure from the corporation in 2013.

Mr Westwood resigned from his show on Capital Extra after seven women came forward with allegations of s*xual misconduct and predatory behavior in a joint investigation by the Guardian and BBC News.

He presented the Radio 1 rap show, MTV show Pimp My Ride UK, 1Xtra and was on Capital Radio during his long career.

Mr Westwood’s representative previously said in a statement to PA: ‘Tim Westwood strongly denies all allegations of inappropriate behaviour.

‘In a career spanning 40 years, there has never been any official or unofficial complaint against him.’
