Driver refuses breath sample, Oak Bay police issue 90-day driving ban – Victoria News

Saturday night’s radar pulled a driver off the road in Oak Bay.

The officer was checking for speeding in the 2700 block of Foul Bay Road on November 20 when they noticed a driver was heading north and was passing 38 km / h above the posted speed limit of 50 km / h.

According to a statement from Oak Bay Police, the officer could smell alcohol on the driver’s breath when speaking. Police said the driver was aggressive and refused to provide a breath sample for testing. He was subsequently given an immediate 90-day road ban for refusing to provide a breath sample and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days. The driver was also fined $ 196 for speeding.

Abandoned stolen car

Oak Bay was a dumping ground for a stolen vehicle in Victoria.

Officers were called on November 15 to the abandoned vehicle in the 2000 block of Granite Street and confirmed that it had been reported stolen. The Victoria Police Department sent their forensic identification section to process the vehicle.

A man injured in a fall from a ladder

A man was rushed to hospital on Tuesday after falling at work.

Police were called in to the incident in the 400 block of Newport Avenue. A 35-year-old man fell from a ladder on scaffolding and appears to have injured his lower legs. The man was taken to hospital and the incident was reported to WorkSafe BC

The suspect filmed

A wallet thief was caught on camera at an Oak Bay golf club.

Police were called on Friday after a wallet was taken from an unspecified club. Police use surveillance footage to identify a suspect.

Parking failure

Oak Bay Police towed a car that blocked a driveway on Saturday.

Officers were called to block 2300 Hamiota Street and confirmed that a vehicle was blocking the entire driveway of a residence. The vehicle was towed and the registered owner notified.
