The Church of England has barred Archbishop Desmond Tutu’s gay daughter Mpho Tutu van Firth from presiding over the funeral of a family friend.

Mpho Tutu van Furth is a South African Anglican priest, activist and daughter of the late Anglican Archbishop, who lives with his wife in the Netherlands.

According to the report, the last wish of her 92-year-old godfather Martin Kenyon VOAwas to perform his last rites for Tutu von Furth.

But the Church of England told the gay priest that although it accepts same-s*x couples, it will not allow him to preside over funerals because he is married.

His wife Marceline Toto von Furth said: “She had to give up her license and this is the second time that I know of, of course there were little things, but she couldn’t do anything out of love. Her For godfather and family only because of same-s*x marriage and that’s what bothers me.

“She fell in love with me and then she dared to marry me and then she couldn’t be that person as a priest.”

Marceline said she is speaking out about the issue because she is determined to take action.

“The Tutu family has always welcomed me,” he said.

“And Mpho [is] Very polite and I thought I was going to take action now. There’s always action in the Toto family and I thought, now it’s my turn.

‘I oppose such injustice’

Mpho Tutu van Furth was ordained as an Anglican priest in 2003, but was barred from his duties in the church after marrying his Dutch wife. The couple later moved to the Netherlands, where he is able to preach.

Her father, Desmond Tutu, was a Nobel Peace Prize laureate, anti-apartheid activist and staunch LGBTQ+ ally who died in December 2021.

In a video about a month before his d*ath United Nations Free and Equality Campaignthe UN’s “Global Campaign Against Homophobia and Transphobia”, Tutu said: “I have to tell you, I cannot remain silent when people are punished for something that They can’t do anything.

“First, gender. When women are excluded, simply because they are women.

“But the more damaging, more terrifying reality is that people are punished, killed, all kinds of horrible things happen to them, based solely on their s*xual orientation.

“I oppose such injustice as passionately as I opposed racism.”
