A 15-year-old boy has died after being ‘pinned down and repeatedly stabbed’ near a West Yorkshire school.

The teenager was att*cked in Woodhouse Hill, near the gates of North Huddersfield Trust School, shortly before 3pm this afternoon.

Emergency services rushed to the area and the boy was airlifted to Leeds General Infirmary, but he was sadly pronounced dead a short time later.

West Yorkshire Police have described the killing as ‘an absolutely senseless loss of a young life’ and have increased patrols in the area tonight.

The force’s Homicide and Major Inquiry Team (HMET) is investigating the incident and remains at the scene tonight as forensics and experts search.

Police were called to the incident, which happened in the Fartown area of ​​Huddersfield at 2.54pm.

A 46-year-old father who has a son in school said. Yorkshire Live: ‘It was a scary moment when I heard there was trouble and a teacher answered my 14-year-old son’s phone. I think he must have witnessed what happened.

‘I was asked by the staff to come and collect it. I heard it all came out of nowhere. The student was caught and thrown on the floor and repeatedly stabbed.’

Yorkshire Air Ambulance closed roads around the incident, while parents said they were extremely concerned.

Another father, whose daughter is at the school, said ‘something needs to be done’ about the rise in crime in the area, adding: ‘My daughter just started there and went home on the bus. had been A boy in a black hat and snood jumped on a pupil and stabbed him and ran away.

‘He saw the scuffle but didn’t see the knife or the blood. The bus had just moved up when it happened so that blocked some of the incident – she seems fine but I think she’s still being processed. It’s only his third week at this new school.’

He added that the area is ‘starting to feel like a crime drama.’

Photos taken earlier today show at least half a dozen police cars responding to the incident.

West Yorkshire Police tonight confirmed that a young man who was stabbed has tragically died and have launched a m*rder investigation.

Senior investigating officer, Detective Superintendent Mark Boyce, said: ‘Our investigation is still at a very early stage, and we will be carrying out extensive inquiries to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident which resulted in the unconscious life of a young man. has happened

‘We recognize that an incident of this nature will cause understandable shock and concern in the community, and we are working with our colleagues in Kirklees district to increase our presence in the area to reassure people. and will continue to update them as our investigation progresses.
