Police say a man was shot in the face Saturday morning inside the Queen’s Motel, prompting a search for the gunman.
Police and sources said the gun play took place around 10:15 a.m. in a room at the Surfside 3 motel on Cross Bay Boulevard in Howard Beach.
The NYPD dispatched police aviation to search for the suspect, who fled the motel and threw his gun into the water, believed to be near the Shell Bank Basin.
The suspect drove into a black Nissan on Cross Bay Boulevard, north of a black Nissan, police sources said. The NYPD’s Harbor Unit was called in to search for weapons.
The condition of the shooter was not immediately known.
Hours after the bloodshed, it was business as usual in a 66-room motel.
“Everything is fine, everything is fine,” said a woman who answered the phone at the motel’s front desk. He denied any wrongdoing, only asking, “Are you looking for a room?”
