A man from Peachland en route to Victoria is still missing after the highway. 99 landslide

Brett Diederichs was on his way to his new Vancouver Island home with his mother and partner

A GoFundMe has been launched for the family of a Peachland man who is still missing after being swept away by a landslide last week on Highway 99.

On November 15, Brett Diederichs was on his way to his new home in Victoria, Vancouver Island with his mother and partner Madison van Rijn when they were caught in a landslide outside the Pemberton . According to the fundraising page, Diederichs’ partner and his mother managed to make it out alive, but he was swept away by the landslide and is still missing.

Although the police did not identify Diederichs, The RCMP said on November 20 that they recovered the bodies of three men while searching for the landslide in the Duffy Lake area and that they are still searching for the body of a fourth man.

As of November 24, the fundraiser had raised more than $ 65,000 since its first launch the day before.

“We will use these gifts to help her end of life celebrations and to support the love of her life, Madison, in these trying times,” read the fundraiser.
